Grow With Us — In the Garden and in Your Career

A work day spent in the garden is unlike any other. At Solid Roots, we believe meaningful work happens outside — in fresh air, with your hands in the soil, creating and caring for living landscapes.

We started Solid Roots because we wanted more from the hours we dedicate to our work each day — a role that feels purposeful, challenging, and connected to nature.

If you thrive on physical work, find joy in being outside, and feel fulfilled by contributing to healthy gardens and landscapes, then gardening with us might be the perfect fit.

What It’s Like to Work With Us

Gardening isn’t easy — and we don’t pretend it is. Some days feel like a full body workout: lifting, digging, wheelbarrowing, and moving soil and plants. Other days involve focused, quiet work: pruning, shaping beds, and tending to details that make gardens thrive.

Each season brings its own rhythms and challenges, and we embrace them all. We care deeply about how our work supports plant health, enhances landscapes, and reflects our commitment to excellence.

At Solid Roots, you’ll work alongside a collaborative team that values clear communication, mutual respect, and continuous learning.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re a good fit for people who:

  • Enjoy being outdoors and working with plants
  • Are attentive to detail and take pride in their work
  • Value learning, growth, and skill development
  • Can communicate clearly and work well as part of a team
  • Bring curiosity, reliability, and a positive attitude

Previous gardening or horticulture experience is helpful for some roles, but a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are just as important.

Opportunities Available

Solid Roots is now hiring for the 2026 season, with a range of positions that reflect the diversity of our work and the depth of our services.

Head Grower

Lead and supervise nursery and plant production, manage growing schedules, and support plant health and propagation efforts. This year-round role involves planning, coordination, and systems development in our nursery program.

Nursery Technician II

Work across field and nursery operations with planting, harvesting, irrigation, and plant care. This role supports both perennial and annual production and requires hands-on involvement.

Gardener I

An entry-level gardening role for individuals with basic knowledge or a strong willingness to learn. Responsibilities include planting, watering, weeding, and supporting garden care throughout the season.

Across all roles, we value teamwork, a dedication to high-quality plant care, and a mindset that embraces both challenge and growth.

Schedule & Seasonal Rhythm

Many positions are seasonal (typically April through November), with opportunities to grow into year-round roles depending on experience and fit. Seasonal work reflects the changing needs of gardens and landscapes throughout the year.

Work is active, hands-on, and outdoor-focused, and may include variable weather conditions. While demanding, the work also offers deep satisfaction — the kind that comes from creating gardens that flourish and evolve.

Benefits & Support

We aim to support our team with competitive pay, paid time off, sick time, paid holidays, and an end-of-season bonus where applicable. Details vary by role and experience and are shared during the application process.
