About Solid Roots
Solid Roots is a garden design, maintenance, and nursery company based in coastal Maine. We care for residential, estate, and commercial landscapes throughout Bangor, Holden, Ellsworth, Hancock, Bar Harbor, Mount Desert Island, and surrounding communities.
Our work is grounded in horticultural expertise, thoughtful planning, and a long term approach to landscape care. We believe gardens are living systems that require consistency , observation, and informed decision making in order to thrive over time.
Our Approach
We take a whole property view of every landscape we manage. By mapping gardens, creating detailed
plant lists, and tracking seasonal changes, we’re able to care for landscapes with intention and continuity. Even when we’re not on site, we know what each area of the garden needs and when it
needs it.
Because we maintain the gardens we design and plant, our work is informed by how landscapes grow and change over time, not just how they look at installation. We understand plant behavior, placement, and longevity , allowing us to do things right the first time and support long term success.
We also pay close attention to how our clients live in their spaces. We consider what they see first when they arrive home, which areas they use most often, and what’s visible from indoors throughout the year. This perspective helps us prioritize care where it matters most.
COLLABORATION & EXPERIENCE
We frequently work alongside landscape architects, designers, and builders, caring for gardens they’ve thoughtfully created. Our experience collaborating across disciplines allows us to understand design intent and support landscapes as they mature.
This collaborative approach allows us to bring continuity , care, and horticultural oversight to projects long after installation, helping landscapes remain healthy and well balanced year after year.
Meet the Team
Solid Roots is led by a small, experienced team with a deep understanding of plant care and landscape management. Our team leaders guide planting decisions, maintenance strategies, and long term planning across every property we manage.
Founder Lacey Sinclair
Lacey founded Solid Roots with a focus on long term garden care, thoughtful planting design, and growing plants specifically for the landscapes they’re intended for. Her approach is rooted in observation, planning, and an understanding of how gardens evolve over time.
Lacey works closely with clients, designers, and the Solid Roots team to ensure each landscape receives consistent, informed care and attention.
Head Gardener Evan Bowman
Evan leads the day to day garden operations at Solid Roots, overseeing maintenance work, planting execution, and seasonal priorities across client properties. With a strong background in horticulture and hands-on landscape care, Evan plays a key role in maintaining plant health, guiding best practices, and supporting long term garden success.
